made from one A1 sheet

For the 2009 International Society of Typographic Designers student assessment awards I created a guide to shooting Super 8 film.

The brief was titled Three Minutes and the only restrictions were the use of one A1 sheet and the outcome had to be predominantly typographic.

I contacted a whole range of filmmakers, artists and enthusiasts to ask for a contribution of either an image or a piece of text that would relate to the steps in the guide. The outcome was a collection of work and notes intertwined around the framework of a step by step guide, diverging from the point into something more interesting and revealing. I wanted to take this functional model and create a piece of work that could be treasured as well as used.

This work was given an ISTD student award.
