The Surreal House
Visual identity and catalogue for ‘The Surreal House’, an exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery in London.
The show examined the relationship between Surrealism and architecture and was mounted in an atmospheric, houselike series of rooms. The structure of the catalogue echoes the exhibition design; with a series of typographic illustrations that are used to demarcate both areas of the exhibition and chapters or ‘maisons’ in the catalogue. The cover features an impossible house, an icon derived from Penrose’s impossible triangle.
